Maria Markova received her Bachelor of
Arts degree with honors from Whittier College, Whittier in
2001. She received her law degree Summa Cum Laude in 2004
from Whittier College School of Law.
While in law school, Ms. Markova externed for the Honorable
William F. Rylaarsdam of the California Court of
Appeal. She was a member of the Whittier Law Review and
authored a case note published in the Whittier Law Review
(2003) Ashcroft v. Free Speech Coalition: The
Constitutionality of Congressional Efforts to Ban
Computer-Generated Pornography. Ms. Markova was also the
recipient of 3 American Jurisprudence Awards in legal
writing.
The primary areas of Ms. Markova's practice are civil
rights, police misconduct and employment law. Ms. Markova is
a member of the State Bar of California and she is admitted
to practice in the U. S. Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit and
United States District Court, Central District of
California.
